wut???

If you save a drawing from Newgrounds it's saved as an WEBP

I now know what the boomers felt when PNG was a new thing.

Soon enough it'll be supported by everything.
But we're in the damn liminal stage where the quantity it's being enforced outweights the quantity it's being supported

I'll stop bitching about it when I can just import a WEBP on photoshop or clip studio or have it play like a gif

....yuck

@DarkPlot that'll happen eventually
when tho....

webp is rather useful for keeping images high quality while also downsizing storage space, especially for animated drawings (Managed to get a few animated drawings to be around 2MB while maintaining the same canvas size, in comparison to gif about 15MB; resized even).
That might be the reason why NG go with this route.

That aside, webp not supported by some image viewers and is rather irritating, and animated webp not able to preview on most applications (discord specifically) is what makes it somewhat useless at the moment.

That makes sense actually, I'm now mad at all the companies who don't support webp

I use the Firefox extension to automatically bring up an option to convert webps into png, jpeg, or gifs.

Smaller, efficient, high quality. Yea i just wish more applications supported them natively. I switched to qView inage qViewer on desktop recently and webps dont bother me much anymore
